Professor Shichijo to speak at Black Belt Global Venture Studio Demo Day 2026 on 8 October

Professor Naohiro Shichijo will speak on the panel at "Black Belt Global Venture Studio Demo Day 2026," held at Tokyo Innovation Base on Thursday, 8 October 2026. His participation grew out of his exchanges with Paul X. McCarthy (League of Scholars), who gives the Science of Startups video presentation at the event.

This is the second Demo Day of Black Belt Global Venture Studio (BBV), selected for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's startup support program TOKYO SUTEAM. After a video presentation on Science of Startups, research that originated at the University of Oxford, the panel "What Makes an Early-Stage Startup Successful?" will discuss how founder characteristics, mindset and team diversity relate to the success of early-stage startups, from the perspectives of innovation policy and data analysis, researcher entrepreneurship and talent development, and venture investment. Early-stage startups from Japan and abroad supported by BBV will then pitch, followed by 1:1 meetings and networking with investors and companies.

Panelists
Naohiro Shichijo (Hitotsubashi University)
Yurika Doi (Director, tayo Inc.)
Kei Furukawa (Senior Investment Director, Sony Ventures)
Yang Yang (Manager, Corporate Venture Capital, SBI Investment)
